In December 2003, U.S. Instruction Corporation, a California-based organization, procured Western Career College. The U.S. Training Corporation additionally obtained Apollo College, which was established by Margaret M Carlson in 1975 in Phoenix, Arizona to plan graduates for professions in gifted callings. The U.S. Instruction Corporation was driven by president and CEO George Montgomery from 2002 to 2011. President Montgomery resigned toward the end of 2011 and was succeeded as president of the gathering by Robert Paul, DeVry University's VP for metro operations. Beforehand, Akens had served as president of Carrington College California from 2007 to 2014 and had been with the foundation since 1993.
